Step one: Complete the above form, unlocking your download of the Rhodes V8 and wav file of the vocal performed by Yard Act’s James Smith.
Step two: Follow the installation instructions to set up the Rhodes V8 in your DAW.
Step three: Import the wav file of the vocal to your DAW. Set the tempo to 70 or 140 BPM.
Step four: Make a track of any genre featuring the V8 plugin prominently. Don’t chop up the vocal, or it won’t sync with the film.
Step five: Export your track as an MP3 and upload it via the submit button below.

‘Missing Keys‘: Rhodes is asking you to soundtrack a short film with our new ‘V8’ software. One elite entry will win a Rhodes MK8 piano.
Rhodes is proud to unveil the first virtual instrument to carry its name: The Rhodes V8 – and is offering you the chance to get to know this deeply multi-sampled version of the acclaimed MK8 Electric Piano during a 45 day free trial.
To mark the ‘V8’ release, Rhodes has made a new short film entitled ‘Missing Keys’ featuring James Smith of the Mercury Prize nominated band, Yard Act – and we want YOU to submit a track to soundtrack it, utilising the new Rhodes V8 plugin.
The winning track, judged by James Blake and Yard Act’s James Smith, will remain on the film as the final soundtrack.
Rhodes will give the five most impressive submissions to our ‘Missing Keys’ judges – Multi-Grammy Award-Winning artist and producer James Blake and Mercury Award Nominated band Yard Act’s James Smith.
After the competition closes, the judges will converse and decide on a winner during a live stream broadcast via the Plugin Boutique Youtube channel on the 23rd March 2023 at 11am PT / 7pm GMT.
The winner will receive the custom Rhodes MK8 Electric Piano of their choice, and the 19 runners-up will be gifted the Rhodes V8 / V8 Pro Edition Virtual Instrument for life.
The prizes do not end there, the 19 runners up will also receive music production software bundles courtesy of our partners Plugin Boutique and an array of Rhodes Lifestyle merchandise.
