Cass Mccombs

Blending folk, rock, and psychedelic traditions with lyrical depth and emotional ambiguity, Cass McCombs carved out a body of work that resists easy categorisation. Across two decades and ten studio albums, McCombs has emerged as a cult figure – equally revered for his elusive persona as for the literary elegance and understated power of his music.

In his Tiny Desk performance, McCombs offers a distilled version of his world – mysterious, intimate, and quietly profound. Joined by a tight-knit band, he moves through songs like “Bum Bum Bum” and “County Line” with the calm assurance of a seasoned storyteller, each lyric landing like a secret shared in confidence.

The Rhodes MK8 weaves seamlessly into the set, its warm textures lending depth and resonance to McCombs’ minimalist arrangements. On “Sleeping Volcanoes”, it pulses gently beneath the surface, while “Opposite House” finds it shimmering in conversation with McCombs’ elastic melodies – never overwhelming, always in service of the song.

Keyon harrold

Keyon Harrold is a boundary-pushing trumpeter, composer, and producer, redefining modern jazz through a seamless fusion of past and present, tradition and innovation. His ability to push boundaries while staying rooted in tradition has made him one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz.

A leading voice in this space, Harrold has collaborated with legends like D’Angelo, Common, and JAY-Z, earning widespread acclaim for his deeply expressive style. In his Tiny Desk performance, he is joined by Robert Glasper, Nick Grant, and Tiana Major9, delivering a thrilling performance where intricate improvisation meets deep, infectious rhythm.

The Rhodes MK8 adds depth and warmth to “Find Your Peace” and “Foreverland”, while “Beautiful Day”, featuring PJ Morton, highlights the instrument’s ability to elevate melody and mood without overpowering the moment.

REMI WOLF

Remi Wolf brings her signature high-energy, genre-blurring style to Tiny Desk, turning the intimate setting into a playground for her funk-infused, soulful pop. Her songwriting pairs effortlessly with the Rhodes MK8, which adds both grit and warmth to her live sound.

A rising force in alternative pop, Wolf has built a reputation for bold, unpredictable performances that blend infectious grooves with sharp, offbeat lyricism. During her Tiny Desk session, she delivers a high-energy set with her band, locking into deep rhythms and dynamic interplay.

The Rhodes MK8 provides a rich harmonic foundation, its signature warmth and bite cutting through on “Sexy Villain” and “Alone in Miami”. On “Motorcycle”, the instrument shines in a raw, rhythmic exchange, perfectly complementing Wolf’s powerful vocal delivery.

WAXahatchee

Katie Crutchfield, the voice behind Waxahatchee, has built a career on raw, unfiltered storytelling. Her music thrives in stripped-back settings, where every lyric and note carries weight.

A defining figure in modern folk and indie rock, Crutchfield’s songwriting is deeply personal, weaving poetic introspection with timeless melodies. Her Tiny Desk performance is a study in restraint – intimate, haunting, and profoundly moving.

Opening with “Much Ado About Nothing”, her voice takes center stage, framed by the understated warmth of the Rhodes MK8. Across “Right Back To It” and “Fire”, the instrument shifts between delicate, shimmering chords and rich, resonant textures, subtly amplifying the emotional depth of each song.
