Launched on Earth Day 2024, the Rhodes MK8 Earth Edition marked a shift in how we think about instrument design and the importance of design with purpose.
The Rhodes MK8 Earth Edition shared the same core as the original MK8, precision-built and sonically uncompromising, but with a renewed focus on sustainable materials and practices.
Twelve months later, its impact is still prominent.
Designed with Intent
Limited to 50 units, the Earth Edition featured a range of responsibly sourced materials and finishes, including:
- FSC-certified American Walnut base & legs
- Rust effect front panel coating
- Forest green recycled ABS lid
- Biodegradable keybed felts
- Low-VOC coatings
- Recycled packaging
Every detail was selected with the same level of care we apply to the MK8’s already iconic sound and feel. The result was a Rhodes that remained true to its heritage while also reflecting a more conscious approach to how things are made.
Measured Impact

Through our partnership with leading tree planting charity, One Tree Planted, each Earth Edition purchased helped contribute to global reforestation efforts. In total, 25,000 trees have now been planted across six continents, supporting air quality improvement, climate regulation, water conservation, and biodiversity.
The Earth Edition wasn’t just a design statement, it was a commitment to doing better, raising awareness, and a reminder that how we build matters.
Rhodes MK8 Earth Edition: Looking Ahead

The Earth Edition sold out quickly, but the thinking behind it continues to inform how we move forward. The Earth Edition showed that meaningful change doesn’t need to come at the expense of craft and that sustainability can sit naturally alongside tradition and performance.
To everyone who supported the project, Rhodes thanks you and is proud to have made such an impact with the help of our dedicated community.
