The Artisan Assemblers Behind the MK8.
Meet Freya Horsey, the ex-professional piano tuner who evolved to become a key member of the team behind the MK8.
Rhodes: Hello, Freya – thank you for speaking with us today. Tell us a bit about your background before joining Rhodes.
Freya: I grew up in a small town not far from the new Rhodes factory in West Yorkshire. My Dad is a piano tuner/technician who taught me how to repair and service pianos. I have spent the last 15 years living in Leeds – I’ve always loved the vast creative community here.
Rhodes: What is your specific role at Rhodes?
Freya: Piano Technician. I also have experience as a quality control supervisor – this has helped me in my role at Rhodes, ensuring consistently high standards.
Rhodes: What is your musical background?
Freya: I have loved music since a young age; the piano has always been a big part of my life. I have a degree in popular music from Leeds College of Music and Grade 8 classical singing. I sing in a pop choir and enjoy heading to local open mic nights.
Rhodes: What do you enjoy most about working at Rhodes?
Freya: I love being around like-minded people who have a passion for listening to and playing new music. I also love spending my day concentrating on the details needed to have pride in a piano you have built and set up.
Rhodes: Thank you, Freya, for being a vital part of the Rhodes team.
